Welcome to FlyShop 1864, located in Launceston, Tasmania. FlyShop 1864 is an Orvis and Patagonia dealer, and is the family-owned shop of fly fishing guide and author, Daniel Hackett.
Why 1864? This was the year that trout first landed in Tasmania, giving birth to one of the world’s great fisheries.
What makes us different is that we specialise in creating many of our products in Australia, and furthermore, they are tried and tested by our guides day in, day out. This includes our flagship 1864 trout flies, which are tied by us, in our shop.
We were also the first, and are the largest Patagonia waders and fly fishing gear retailer in Australia, and the only Orvis accredited dealer in Tasmania.
FlyShop 1864 is the sister business to RiverFly Tasmania, where we offer guided fly fishing. We stock everything for the fly fisher, from trout flies to fly rods.
